The golden ratio is a famous mathematical concept that is tied to the Fibonacci sequence. Also known as the golden mean, it is an irrational number that approximately equals 1.618. The golden ratio results when the ratio of two numbers is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two numbers. In other words, the golden ratio occurs when you divide a line segment into two smaller segments of different lengths for which the ratio of the whole line segment to the longer segment is equal to the ratio of the longer segment to the shorter segment– Confused?
