My Speculation: If we follow as a starting point the theories of Dr Walter Brown on the "Great Flood" and accept the idea that much water, and mud were ejected under such massive pressure as to leave the gravity well where gravity becomes weaker as it ascends, there could have been a flash freezing event at the poles mostly the North pole and precipitation falls as hail and freezing rain mass accumulation would occur. Since temperatures of the ejected water were in the 700°+ and may have heated much of the ocean as well at that time, such a precipitation loop as suggested may have also occurred.
