  • The Christian image of the cross and four symbols of the 4 astrological signs/4 Evangelists between the arms of the cross is often called the Tetramorph. The astrological interpretation by most astrologers is that the cross itself marks the equinox and solstice points; the horizontal line is the east/west axis of a horoscope or of the ecliptic ( we call it "the Cardinal Cross"). The four symbols in between are indeed the 4 fixed zodiacal signs that occur midway between the cardinal cross points.These four points between the solstices and equinoxes occur in May, August, November and February. These midpoints have a special meaning too; in western astrological symbolism they are points of maximum release of divine energy/creativity/power.

  • In regards to 4 beast as representation of cosmic cycles. One way of looking to it is discussed in above podcast. Seasons of the Great Cosmic Year. Cross within circle indicates four times of the day, four seasons, four periods in the wobbling of Earths axis. I've recently watched documentary about Saint Chapelle de Paris. One of the stories told in stained glass there is about prophet Ezekiel. It consists of four concentric circles different in color. Circles encompassing another circles. Cycles within cycles. This picture made me think of three objective astronomical events and one hypothetical: daily rotation of the Earth around its axis - (~24hrs) the day; Earths rotation around the Sun - (~365 days) the Year; one full wobble of Earths axis - (~26000) The Great Cosmic Year. The last outermost circle could be the longest objective astronomical cycle unknown to me. One full rotation of the Galaxy maybe?
